1970s “Metafora” Coffee Table by Massimo & Lella Vignelli for Casigliani
A beautiful geometric marble and glass “Metafora” coffee table designed by Italian architects Massimo and Lella Vignelli for Casigliani, circa 1970s. The table is composed of four distinct geometric marble forms: a cube, sphere, pyramid, and cylinder which represent the basic solids of Euclidean geometry. Each form supports a newly fabricated, custom made ¾ inch thick square tempered glass top (42” diameter).
This table is celebrated as one of the most iconic examples of Italian radical design, where minimalism meets monumentality. All marble pieces have been freshly polished, highlighting the natural veining and black marble in each stone.
