Sculptural Wood Floor Lamp by Peter Bloch
An exceptional sculptural floor lamp by American woodworker Peter Bloch, known for his expressive, hand shaped lighting and distinctive wooden shades. Standing 67 inches tall, the lamp is defined by a slender, organically carved wood stem that gently twists and changes profile as it rises from the base. A large hand crafted wooden shade completes the composition, softly diffusing the light while allowing the natural grain and warmth of the quaking aspen wood to remain visible.
Bloch approached lighting as functional sculpture, working primarily by hand and allowing the individual characteristics of the wood to inform each lamp. Prior to his retirement in 2023, Bloch’s floor lamps were offered directly through his studio. With production now discontinued, existing examples represent the finite body of work from his decades long practice.
A particularly expressive example of Bloch’s work, balancing the utility of a floor lamp with the presence of a freestanding wood sculpture.
